Areas of Expertise
Professor Shanks’s research focuses on fluidity in population and territory, the two central components of sovereignty. She has published Immigration and the Politics of American Sovereignty 1890-1990, as well as articles on tourism, international relations theory, anti-immigration movements, and international organizations.
