New Pre-doctoral Position at Ohio State University

This position is designed for students who would like extensive research experience before applying to PhD programs in the social sciences. The research will involve quantitative and qualitative approaches to understanding the evolution of racial inequality and novel use of non-standard sources to uncover multiple dimensions of Black life outside of administrative data.

Washington International Diplomatic Academy: Summer Diplomatic Academy

This unique and intensive practical professional training program introduces undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, to careers in international diplomacy and teaches key skill sets. It covers the fundamentals of diplomatic practice and focuses on real-world aspects of work in embassies, consulates, government agencies, international organizations and global NGOs. The material emphasizes a skills-based and experiential-learning approach, and is generally not offered at colleges and universities.

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities Summer Internships

Morris K. Udall Foundation Native American Summer Congressional Internship Program

Even as Native nations achieve greater levels of self-determination, Indian Country continues to be influenced by U.S. federal law and policy. The Udall Internship places students in Senate, House, and federal agency offices to learn firsthand how the U.S. government works with Native nations. Interns will gain a better understanding of the government to government relationship and how they can use this knowledge on behalf of their tribes.

Hertog Foundation Political Studies Program

Each year, the Hertog Foundation brings together top college students to the nation’s capital to explore the theory and practice of politics in an intensive seminar setting with outstanding faculty. Political Studies Fellows take courses in a wide variety of subjects, from political philosophy to contemporary public affairs, from economics to foreign policy. In the afternoons and evenings, they have the opportunity to hear from leaders in American government and politics.

Public Policy and International Affairs Program Junior Summer Institutes

The PPIA Junior Summer Institute (JSI) Fellowship Program is a rigorous academic graduate-level preparation program for undergraduate juniors committed to public service careers. The program was started to address the lack of diversity across the spectrum of professional public service, including government, nonprofits, public policy institutions, and international organizations. The purpose of the JSI Fellowship is to prepare students to obtain a Master’s or a joint degree in public policy, public administration, international affairs, or a related field.

The Ralph Bunche Summer Institute is an annual, intensive five-week program held at Duke University. It is designed to introduce to the world of doctoral study in political science those undergraduate students from under-represented racial and ethnic groups.

Gilman International Scholarship

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness.

Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship Program

The Program provides graduate fellowships to qualified college seniors and college graduates committed to joining the Foreign Service by helping finance two-year graduate programs, provide two summer internships, and offer mentoring from a Foreign Service Officer as well as other professional development activities.

The Congressional Fellowship Program is a 9-month fellowship that gives political scientists first-hand insights into U.S. Congress through placements in Senate and House offices.

Sentinels Summer Public Policy Research Fellowship

The Sentinels Summer Fellowship supports student projects focused on contemporary issues in U.S. economic, social, and/or environmental policy, including but not limited to community and regional development, regulation, inequality, and/or processes and powers of the American government.  Applicants are encouraged to propose projects in which they will engage in partnership with local community organizations.

Barbara Solow Research Fellowship

The Barbara Solow Research Fellowship provides financial assistance to Williams College student(s) conducting research in Economic or Business History, or in other areas reflecting the diverse interests of the pioneering economic historian Barbara L.
Solow, including Irish history, Caribbean slavery, and other historical topics in the social sciences . The funds of the Solow Fellowship may be used in two ways: 1) to support one or more summer research fellowships, undertaken either on or off campus, and/or 2) to cover travel or research expenses during the academic year.
